SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,"hi"
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
you decide that an old sweater no longer fits you perfectly like the old days. So, you donate it to charity. You don't exactly miss it b/c it's warm outside. Then one day, it starts to get unbearably cold and you begin regreting that you've donated that sweater. After all, you wouldn't be so damn cold if you had it. You want the once useless sweater back. but unless you run to every single shelter in the community and beg the hobo that has used it as a pillow to give it back to you, it 's not going to come back. so you end up going to the mall and buying a new sweater, much like the one you donated. Having to pay money for something you once had is not making you very happy. After this experience, you realize that next time, you'll just put that sweater in your closet until you need it. yes, that's what you'll do next time.
unfortunately people, unlike sweaters, don't like being neglected...and they don't wait around.
